While a selection of gentle remedial techniques are used, this is not your typical remedial approach that focuses only on isolated pain or muscle tightness. Here I listen to the whole body and the wisdom it holds. I help your body to release physically, emotionally and energetically, to restore lightness and energetic flow.

It's about becoming aware of what is important to you on a soul level. The body has an incredible way of reporting back to you when you are not honouring your essence.

The first thing someone will say to me on the massage table when I highlight an energetic block in the arms is always…. ‘Well I guess I use the mouse a lot’, or ‘that’s the arm I carry my baby with’ or something along the same lines.

Energy work invites you to consider the emotional side of life, not just the physical contributions.

And when we are prone to certain behaviours, we may see flare ups in areas such as the arms. A physical soreness that wasn’t there last week, but really making itself known of late.

These invitations are the body’s way of communicating unbalance with you.

Patterns like these take a hold and then either have you feeling flat and average, or you might be experiencing physical pain in the area. And while one treatment will soften and improve the energetic flow again, deeper blocks don’t get cleared because time doesn’t permit.

When muscles begin to ache we rarely wonder what emotional event has happened, instead we begin searching for physical events that might be responsible for the way our body feels.

It is more often than not seen as a disruption to life, a limitation in movement and a pain to be silenced.

In my massage work, I see muscle tightness, aches and exhaustion as messages from the body. Not just messages of pain but of the invisible emotional load one is carrying.

On this day, my client came for a massage for pain and tightness in her upper back, she said nothing more.

Her body wasn’t just being difficult, it was holding a great deal of sadness. It was a heavy load to carry around. It was trying to hold it all together, the sadness and the pain.

The massage was aimed at restoring movement back to her neck and shoulder area but in doing so it needed to be held and heard. Acknowledged. Given space to soften. As a result, her energy shifted, a weight was lifted.

My massage practice invites a spiritual connection to your body. You are no longer separate pieces, you are one whole person. Guidance can come from many sources and on this day, my client’s grandmother was here.

Grief is more common in bodies than most would know. It sits heavy near the heart and is detected between the shoulder blades. It’s heavy to carry day-in, day-out.

It’s not just poor posture, and physical injury that has our bodies feeling less than optimal, emotions play a part too.
